Jay A. Heller
I have been practicing in the
State of Illinois
for thirty-two years and have primarily been engaged in the practice of
Personal Injury Litigation including Medical Malpractice, Auto and Premises Accidents, Uninsured and
Underinsured Motorist Actions; as well
as Personal Bankruptcies and Family Matters.
During my legal career I have obtained settlements, awards and verdicts on behalf of my clients greatly in excess of $ 50 million dollars. This includes accidents related to automobiles, trucks and motorcyles; as well as fall downs on premises, nursing home and medical malpractice claims, and recently a claim versus a facility that hosts severely autistic individuals who was sexually assaulted while at the facility by another patron. I recently mediated a plus six figure settlement for a young woman who was burned while at a restaurant with her family. I have brought my client’s into national class action litigation regarding harmful pharaceuticals or procedures and have recovered high six figure recoveries on their behalf. Last year I succefully negotiated another Six figure settlement just prior to arbitration on property damage resulting from theft from a business prior to their grand opening when the insurer alledged wrongdoing by my clients. I have pursued actions for the limited bad faith negotiations against insurance companies under the limitations of Illinois law.
I fight hard for my client’s regardless of the nature of the injury or the value of their claims and while I cannot guaranty their recovery, I can guaranty fighting on their behalf to maximize their claims.
I am active in Alternative Dispute Resolution; including Mediation and Arbitration.
I am or have been an active member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, The Chicago Bar Association and The Illinois Bar Association and I am currently a member of the the National Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys and the American Arbitration Association.
In 2013 I became a published author of a novel.
I have been married to my wife for over thirty-one years and have three adult children and recently I became a grandparent.
